Binary package hint: popularity-contest

I'm using Dapper i386 with all updates on a machine in a local network
(connected to the world wild web via NAT) with a local name:
gonzales.9thfloor.local

Using sudo dpkg-reconfigure popularity-contest, I've set popularity-
contest to be enabled and to use HTTP instead of e-mail. Yet, it seems
that popularity-contest still tries to send the reports via e-mail ...
and fails. I find e-mails like the following in my local inbox:

I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not
be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.

For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster>

If you do so, please include this problem report. You can
delete your own text from the attached returned message.
