Hi Philip, I'd like to answer your questions if it's useful.
So using the same Ubuntu 24.04 live image from last week, I confirm that:
- The live setup is using 6.8.0-41-generic and I can't neither use the trackpad
nor see the battery indicator.
- I retried to install Ubuntu 24.04 without connection nor selecting
3rd-parties components. Issues are still there. The kernel is the same as the
setup.
- sudo apt upgrade is prompting 6.8.0-44-generic along with linux-firmware and
linux-generic-hwe-24.04 and ubuntu-drivers-common (among others that don't seem
related).
- I rebooted and the kernel is 6.8.0-44-generic. Trackpad is working and also
the battery indicator.
I did the same test with Ubuntu 22.04
- The live setup is using 6.5.0-18-generic. Trackpad and battery indicator
don't work
- Normal installation
- At boot Ubuntu 22.04 has 6.5.0-18-generic. The update/upgrade wants to
install linux-generic-hew-22.04, linux-firmware, ubuntu-pro-client,
ubuntu-desktop, ubuntu-drivers-common, ubuntu-standard and many other libs.
- I reboot and the kernel is still 6.5.0-18-generic. No trackpad nor battery
indicator
Side note: Let me know if you prefer I answer only
here(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2076986) and I put
this ticket aside.
