Thanks for your response. With the "ro" setting in fstab, Konqueror and the Konsole both report permissions as writeable (770), but I didn't test that this was in fact the case. Unfortunately, I'm travelling at present, and don't have access to a machine with Vista. I'll retry the test, probably in a week or so.
