Whenever modifying a signed message (to remove an attachment or for other 
reason) by whatever means, 
I propose keeping the signature blob in the form of an attachment as a reminder 
of the message originally having been signed.
Then the user has the choice to remove the signature in case (s)he is not 
interested in keeping it.

This is automatically fulfilled when using the mentioned simple strategy
(adapting the message content type).
