If what you were describing was the case for all installations being upgraded to Noble, that would obviously be the most catastrophic regression we hopefully knew about, so I suspect there is something more subtle going on here. > Upgrading grub from 2.06 to any later version may break grub if the filesystem to boot from is not one of ext2,3,4.
