Public bug reported:
The 6470 version is a Centrino. Intel HD Audio
Have tweaked the Gnome speaker applet, "alsamixer" in terminal, the Sound
utility in Preferences, etc. Tried every permutation I could think of. Ticked
on all Sources. Tried Intel HD vs. OSS Realtek, no difference.
Left speaker works fine in vista.
Acer 5920 left chassis speaker does not work or output very weak. In
alsamixer, playing a music CD, sound is controlled by the PCM sliders,
not the CD sliders. There are no "Master" sliders which seemed kind of
weird to me but that's only because there is a Master on my old desktops
running Ubuntu.
Tried a PCLOS LiveCD (their newest - Gnome 2.21.2) and it can't drive
the left speaker either. Don't know if that helps any...
