Attached journal.txt, output of journalctl -b0. at line 3941 i see

desktop-i[3165]: Failed to do gtk init. Waiting for a new session with
desktop capabilities.

i think that shows the problem: screen stays black (this time, sometimes
i see part of the test output during boot, so pysical screen seems ok).
The machine is running fine, i can access it using ssh (got this output
that way)

on line 1247 some errors in /boot/efi filesystem. Get the same when i try 
fscheck, but dont think this causes the isue, or could restoring the backup 
revert the update?
on line 3038 starting gnome display manager, error on 3108, failed to load cni 
(not critical i think?)
