Same issue indeed (also without PPAs).. Still present in 2024. First
time trying to use apt-cacher-ng. Great experience (NOT).


Hopefully increasing DlMaxRetries helps, but I have the feeling something is 
wrong.. Is Apt-cacher-ng creating the 503 errors? Or the upstream repository? 
That is not clear yet to me.  Is apt-cacher-ng hitting the Ubuntu mirrors too 
hard? Or is there some kind of crash in apt-cacher-ng?? I tried looking into 
the log. Nothing. Looking into the error log. Also nothing. wth?
