Back to this bug and a 22.04 installation after visiting 24.04 in LP: #2085420 and LP: #2085423.
Paolo: First of all, your kernel build initially looked like to fix the Fn+D functionality. As a side effect it somehow disables both the Mutter notification about privacy screen enabled/disabled and the GNOME UI selection "Restrict Viewing Angle" for the privacy screen. And I can easily believe this side effect is actually the _reason_ why Fn+D now works, instead of there being a kernel level fix to the original issue. I believe my original statement, which I've already fixed in the description a couple of times, that "it works in default 03/2024 OEM installation" may be incorrect, since it was based on a memory and there might be some other explanation why at some point the Fn+D worked fine than kernel/mutter upgrades. Now testing back with linux-6.5.0-1019-oem kernel + older mutter the faulty behavior is still there, so it's possibly not kernel related. --- HOWEVER, in the default 22.04 configuration, up-to-date nor not, there is actually a key (pun intended) difference I didn't notice earlier: the privacy screen works fine so far via GNOME Privacy Screen Lock UI, while this "immediate reset" happens with the Fn+D keyboard shortcut! And I found now this problem or a variety of it has been reported also in 2022 in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control- center/+bug/1966178/comments/10 ** Summary changed: - Regression on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS after upgrading from shipped OEM installation to current versions of 22.04 - Lenovo privacy guard does not work (flashes on and then off) + Ubuntu 22.04 LTS OEM installation - Lenovo privacy guard does not work with keyboard shortcut (flashes on and then off) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2085119 Title: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS OEM installation - Lenovo privacy guard does not work with keyboard shortcut (flashes on and then off) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2085119/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
