OK. I still can't find an easy explanation for the black screen. One issue that might be related is the kernel complaining that:
kernel: EDID block 0 is all zeroes This means there is a problem in the monitor's display cable or the monitor has buggy firmware. It *might* cause a black screen or it might not. Because it only prevents the monitor from reporting what modes it supports. Without that information you should still have access to basic standard display modes. Something worth trying is to add this to /etc/environment: MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=simple and then reboot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083772 Title: System gets blank/black screen after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2083772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
