It appears the machine ran out of memory and the first thing it killed to keep the OS running was Unity7:
Oct 28 14:26:42 ab-UX310UAK systemd-oomd[958]: Considered 62 cgroups for killing, top candidates were: Oct 28 14:26:42 ab-UX310UAK systemd-oomd[958]: Path: /user.slice/user-1000.slice/[email protected]/app.slice/unity7.service So being returned to the login screen is expected. Assuming you can't just add more RAM to the machine, I can only recommend limiting the number of browser tabs kept open because Brave and Firefox seem to have been using most of the memory at the time. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2085750 Title: User session gets killed on OOM when really only web browsers are to blame To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/2085750/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
