I have this problem too. I used a freshly installed Kubuntu 7.10. Clicked the little update icon and agreed to install the updates. Then I get: There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages.
When I press OK, adept tells me: A new distribution is available! Click next if you wish to upgrade now. This is a bit odd, because I do not think that there is a new distribution version ready?! Also it tells me to click "next", but there *is not "next" button*. There is a "Version Upgrade" button. This is rather confusing. I think this crash maybe broke my installation. I am considering going for a reinstallation. I think it is problematic that the updater in Kubuntu is so faulty. This is a very important piece of software. When an updater crashes it gives the user a very uncomfortable feeling that the entire system might now be broken. -- The updater doesn't tell the problem. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/54450 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
