There's a very clear possibility that blender is not yet built with
Wayland support (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1033199), but that bug references an old version.

I think the best thing here is to report it upstream since this is a
package that is synced unmodified from Debian. You can find information
on how to do that here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs. Once you've
done that, link the Debian bug here in a comment so it can be tracked.

The reality is that this might not get fixed until 25.04 is released,
but the good news is that you've found a workaround (run in X11), albiet
a rather inconvenient one. The reason I'm saying this is because
Debian's freezes are just around the corner with regards to their stable
release, so we're likely to see little activity, if any, on that front.
