#18 worked for me and I am using the gnome extension that added the
hibernate choice to the shutdown menu.  Using 2 different Mac Airs.  One
is an 11" 6,1 and the other is a 13" 7,2 and blacklisting the intel_hid
did the trick and I did not have to run update-initramfs.  I just did a
modprobe -r intel_hid, blacklisted it for the next boot.

There seems to be no negative effect of not having intel_hid loaded on
either machine.
