I got the similar issue but for me looks like the issue is related to the onboad Intel HD Graphics. When start the system without it nvidia works fine and also switch to virtual terminals using Ctrl+Alt+F3 to reinstall the driver. For this turned on the computer just with nvidia connected and in the setup disabled the onboad intel graphics.
I got little different setup: Device-1: Intel HD Graphics 530 driver: i915 v: kernel Device-2: NVIDIA GF108 [GeForce GT 420] driver: nouveau But still facing problems when try to use the Intel 530. When using as the primary display got the same situation, system hangs with blank screen. When using the nvidia as the primary display, system starts but when connect display to intel it is just blank. The only thing I got is the error in syslog and kern.log System-Product-Name kernel: nouveau 0000:03:00.0: gr: DATA_ERROR 0000009c [] ch 6 [007fa97000 gnome-shell[2628]] subc 0 class 9197 mthd 0d78 data 00000004 Still work on it... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2071680 Title: Ubuntu fails to boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2071680/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
