From UbiquitySyslog.txt which has been added to this bug report:

Dec 19 03:27:14 ubuntu kernel: [ 281.441001] SQUASHFS error: zlib
decompression failed, data probably corrupt
Dec 19 03:27:14 ubuntu kernel: [ 281.441012] SQUASHFS error: Failed to read
block 0x4bfc21cb: -5

It's possible you had a bad write to your installation media or for some
other reason its contents could not be read correctly. If you've tried
again and are still having problems you should try re-writing the image
to your media (and maybe also download the image again as well).

** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete

** Summary changed:

- 22.05 install fails while 24.04 install, using same media, succeeds
+ 22.04 install fails while 24.04 install, using same media, succeeds
