In 24.10 I installed libadwaita-1-0 and libadwaita-1-examples from the
proposed pocket (version 1.6.2-1ubuntu0.24.10.1).
I started the window manager with startx /bin/mwm and then the test
application, adwaita-1-demo.
A two panel window with an welcome message at the right and a list of
clickable entries on the left appeared.
I click the sun icon at the top left; It toggles the window's theme
between light and dark.
I click the three horizontal lines button near it. A context menu opened
and I click 'about Adwaita demo' which showed a transient window with
the usual options (details, credits, troubleshooting etc.) and the
version number 1.6.2, which is correct.
In the Navigation view, I click run the demo, a transient window opened
with buttons, clicked one open page 3, with a sliding transition the
page in that transient window was replaced by simply a "page 3" text in
large font.
In Clamp, in-/decreasing the maximum width value correspondingly changed
the width of the box containing that option.
In lists,
*First entry showed a row with title and, in fainter and smaller font,
subtitle.
*Second row showed a button inside that row.
*Entry rows section showed rows in which text can be inserted. The password
entry has a toggle to un-/shadow the text in it, which works as expected.
In View switcher, clicked run the demo and verified that a pop up opens
with a tabbed interface. Clicking a different tab changed the contents
of the window.
Tab viewer worked just like the view switcher but here I could close and
add tabs and I also saw a grid of them by clicking "view open tabs"
button (represented by four squares). Middle clicking a tab closed it.
I swaped pages in the carrousel with the mouse (like a touch screen
gesture) and with button4/5.
In Buttons, clicking a button triggered a color transition for a
split second. Hovering a button caused it to change color. The color
remained while the mouse pointer is over it and went back to normal when
the mouse pointer went away.
In toasts,
*Clicked show in simple toast and a small transient pop up showed at the bottom
of the window. Clicking X dismisseed it.
*Clicked in toast with an action, and a toast showed with a button to undo the
action. The trash bin button dismissed the toast.
*Toast with a long title: As expected, a toast with a long title appeared.
Alert dialog presented a transient window with save (primary button)
discard (secondary button) and cancel button, all different colors.
Spinner showed a point/worm orbitating in a circumpherence.
