Public bug reported: The Ruby package bundled with Ubuntu doesn't have support for yjit. yjit is a jit compiler for Ruby which can run Ruby applications way faster than with the standard way.
In order to get a yjit enabled build, I do it like this: RUBY_CONFIGURE_OPTS=--enable-yjit rbenv install 3.3.6 You need a Rust compiler present when building Ruby with yjit support, but it's not a requirement at runtime. https://shopify.engineering/ruby-yjit-is-production-ready https://github.com/ruby/ruby/blob/master/doc/yjit/yjit.md ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.10 Package: ruby 1:3.3~ubuntu3 Uname: Linux 6.12.6-x64v3-xanmod1 x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.30.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: KDE Date: Wed Dec 25 16:29:42 2024 InstallationDate: Installed on 2024-08-06 (141 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 24.04 LTS "Noble Numbat" - Release amd64 (20240425.1) SourcePackage: ruby-defaults UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oracular on 2024-09-24 (92 days ago) ** Affects: ruby-defaults (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug oracular -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2092490 Title: yjit is not present in ruby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ruby-defaults/+bug/2092490/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
