Same issue. It happens when there is inactivity for some time. White square instead of mouse. If I try to execute some cli command in an already existing terminal: "Command not found". I have to switch off using power button. Same messages: "Failed to Rotate message" "read-only filesystem" and then a lot of "Failed to write entry". It seems some bug is turning /var/log/journal partition to read-only and it crash the system. I have deactivated hibernation & suspend, but it also fails. Did a memset test: all OK. fsck and smartctl shows no problem in SSD Disk. Disk is updated to the last firmware.(INTEL SSDPEKNW010T8H --> f version HPS0)
It's a very SEVERE bug, as in Ubuntu 20 I don't remember that problem with the same laptop. It started when I installed Ubuntu 24.01 Noble. Running in a HP Laptop 5s-fq1xxx (1F9J2EA#ABE). I cannot let alone the laptop more than 10 minutes, cause I find this bug happened. I've a dual boot with Ubuntu 24 along with WIndows 11.
