Although this bug report was reopened in comment #7 over thirteen years
ago there have been many changes in the default Ubuntu desktop since
then.
Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) reached end-of-life on October 28, 2012.
Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) reached end-of-life on May 9, 2013.
So I'm closing this report as 'Invalid'.
If this is still an issue when using a currently supported release of
Ubuntu then please create a new bug report by using the following
command in a terminal window:
ubuntu-bug <affected package name>
