I've noticed several other reports that sound similar to this (the GUI
going blank after some random period of time). It may be worth
investigating if there are dupes for this bug. In any case, it looks
like the reporter has provided ample details, so am marking the bug
Triaged, and ready to be reported upstream.

I just been doing the updates, from the last couple of updates, the
monitor randomly stops working. I have put power management at 12 mins,
I am also using BOINC Manager to do some crunching but don't think it
- affects in some manner. While working the monitor stops responding
