Same issue for me since several Ubuntu versions on 2 different computers (24.10 and 24.04)
And same : if I empty the /home/jpaul/.cache/thumbnails/fail/gnome- thumbnail-factory/ AND open a Nautilus window of the desktop, the right icons is created immediately. After #9, the problem seems to be when we save the file on the Desktop folder, any pdf, Libreoffice, jpg… files. To get it : go to Internet, find a .jpg file and save it : * 1 : in the Desktop folder : the thumbnail doesn't appear either in Nautilus or on the Desktop view but a black thumbnail with only one pixel appears in /fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory/ (attached file) * 2 : in another folder : the thumbnail is well created ** Attachment added: "bad thumbnail" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-desktop3/+bug/2086516/+attachment/5850585/+files/986c5369f1f115bc94104d4229377607.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2086516 Title: gnome-thumbnail-factory can't create new thumbnails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-desktop3/+bug/2086516/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
