Public bug reported:
extract crashed with CurtinInstallError
Basicly: with or without installing the improved installer installer. the error
indicated that some Canonical[sp?] files could not be found in the path and
folder expected. Then aborting the install.
what I did and what happened
* Using a HP Pavilon laptop running Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS and Ubuntu disk creator
and latest 2024.04.1 downloaded iso, I created a USB bootable thumb drive
24.04.1 LTS install medium.
* There were no problems while using GParted on the target computer hard drive.
* I then started the installer program.
* No errors selecting options. [The second time I selected as few
options as possible.]
* The installer got as far as displaying a list of the graphics and video
applications when the
"there is a problem" message was displayed.
* I followed the instruction for running a sudo required command, receiving a
"such and such Canonial files are not present in /file/file"
I apologize for not writing down all of the Terminal command and response.
The [close] button was the only option at this button.
* If the referred to terminal command and responces are not included in
the attached file I can rerun the install being careful to record all
events and displays completely. I would try now but I fear not being
able to return to this bug description if I tried to do so.
* The format and content of the Terminal displayed command and error were
Similar To:
sudo xxxx recommended comand was run in Terminal
. . . Canonical[sp?] . . . bootloader not found at [expected location]
What I expected
* The installing program to complete.
* have a running version of Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS That I could close and re-log
into.
Reproducable
I have reproduced this twice once with the "improved boot loader" and once
without.
Received the same error message in Terminal both times.
If requested I will do my best to supply acurate copies of on screen
instructions, and results of my following them. If you want me to
repeat some portion of the process above let me know, so I can only
supply what you need.
