I've been testing libvirt 8.0.0-1ubuntu7.11~ppa2 from Sergio's PPA
inside a Jammy LXD amd64 container, trying to emulate an armv7l
instance.
This seems to fix the original issue of "ERROR unsupported
configuration: TPM model 'tpm-tis' is only available for x86 and aarch64
guests", but as described in comment #4 I'm also running into another
issue: "ERROR internal error: Could not run '/usr/bin/swtpm_setup'.
exitstatus: 1; Check error log '/var/log/swtpm/libvirt/qemu/oracular-
arm-swtpm.log' for details"
Where the logs are not really helpful:
"""
root@jj-tmptis-lp2077336:~# cat
/var/log/swtpm/libvirt/qemu/oracular-arm-swtpm.log
Starting vTPM manufacturing as swtpm:swtpm @ Wed 12 Feb 2025 10:23:37 AM UTC
swtpm process terminated unexpectedly.
Could not start the TPM 2.
An error occurred. Authoring the TPM state failed.
Ending vTPM manufacturing @ Wed 12 Feb 2025 10:23:37 AM UTC
"""
When running the same command for x86_64 the swtpm issue does not happen
and the instance launches just fine. So this must have something to do
with non-x86 handling of swtpm setup ("tmp-tis" vs "tmp-tis-device")
Georgia reported success in comment #3 that the problem is fully solved.
This makes me wonder what could be the difference between Sergio's & my
setup and the setup of Georgia?
Georgia, are you reproducing this on real hardware? Is there anything
TMP specific on your end?
