Thanks - as I suspected, this microcode was not updated in the most recent release from what I can see - the list of changed microcodes is in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel- microcode/3.20250211.0ubuntu0.20.04.1 and this one is not listed. Similarly, Intel do not document this in their release notes either - https://github.com/intel/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data- Files/releases/tag/microcode-20250211
Also I have tested this against a number of machines with this same CPU and none fail in the same way - so I am not sure how to proceed, other than to suggest you file a bug upstream with Intel at https://github.com/intel/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data- Files/issues and see if they can provide any guidance.
