I've prepared a PPA with a plucky upload. I have had trouble verifying
what behaviour is buggy in byobu. I can definitely see the issue with
parsing, taking the provided .bashrc commands and running manually, but
I don't know how it manifests or logs the issue. what i did

1. gen-locales one of the comma using locales
2. LC_ALL=$locale_from_above
3. dpkg-reconfigure locales
4. apt install byobu (if not installed)
5. byobu-enable
6. re-log
7. . /usr/share/byobu/.bashrc
8. hello (no errors)

I'm not much of a byobu user, so i'm a bit stuck here. if anyone would
like to verify, please try my PPA. I've tried a few locales
(fr_FR.UTF-8, cz_CZ.UTF-8, de_DE.UTF-8) and haven't been able to get an
error on the original package.
