Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
I have setup Scim on Ubuntu 7.10 with Indic language support packages
provided by Ubuntu. I am trying to prepare a Punjabi master document.
There is trouble printing vowels. Say, when, using phonetic keyboard, we
try to print the 'awe' vowel ਅਾ by fist pressing the 'A' key followed by
'w' key, we do not get ਅਾ਼ Instead an ਅ is followed by ਾ attached to a
dummy circle. There is a similar problem with printing ੲਿ, ੲੀ, ੲੇ, ਅੈ,
and ਅੌ vowel characters of Unicode.
This bug is peculiar to OpenOffice.org Word Processor. There is no
problem printing Punjabi vowels in Browser Forms like this one, and
Ubuntu's own Text Editor.
As a result of this bug I am compelled to look at other word processors.
Hope some whiz kid or a Linux Master shoots this trouble soon. Thanks.
