Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bash

The only mention of $$ in the bash manpage is here:

The shell has an execution environment, which consists of the
following:

    [...]

    * various process IDs, including those of background jobs, the
value of $$, and the value of $PPID

Shouldn't the manpage say somewhere that $$ is the current shell's PID?

** Affects: bash (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
