Public bug reported:

/org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT1 can be removed/swapped with
no ill effect.

however, if

/org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT2

is removed and reinstalled or swapped,

the system no longer gets a state on battery 2 (0%) , nor does the
system report charging on AC anymore.

it will persistently report that its on a single battery, not charging,
and at "96%" capacity.

(it is charging and both batteries have green icon for 100%).. so seems
a UI or ACPI issue.

fwiw, theyre referred to as 1 and 2 by upower

$ upower --enumerate
/org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_AC
/org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT2
/org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT1
/org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/DisplayDevice

and as 0/1 by acpi

$ acpi -b
Battery 0: Not charging, 96%
Battery 1: Not charging, 0%

i never would have caught this other than, certain panasonic models
support two batteries (such as cf31 and cf33). if someones interested
this who has contributed to upower or acpi in the past and needs a
laptop that has two batteries installed for troubleshooting purposes i
can probably arrange to send or lend one.
