When monitor is turned off via xrandr, xscreensaver crashes, dumping core with

xscreensaver -nosplash&
Another monitor is turned on and then the current one turned off, e.g.:
xrandr --output VGA --left-of LVDS --mode 1600x1200
xrandr --output LVDS --off
