This still happens occasionally on my Thinkpad X61s with a iwl4965 - maybe 1 in 20 suspends. Most of my wireless usage is on networks with WPA-2 encryption (enterprise and personal).
I've just added the acpi scripts as suggested in the comment above, which I assume will work around the problem, but I think it should be noted that the problem still exists.
