Public bug reported: In the Kubuntu 25.04 beta installation process, the calamares installer strongly suggest to encrypt the boot partition when trying a setup like this in the manual partitioning process:
/ encrypted /boot uncrypted As of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/2105924 encrypting the boot partition is not supported in Ubuntu / Kubuntu. The strong suggestion to encrypt the boot partition will probably confuse a lot of users and lead to unbootable systems (as it did for me) and should therefore be disabled. Calamares has a simple configuration option that can be used to disable the warning: In partition.conf: # Show not encrypted boot partition warning. # # When set to false, this option does not show the # "Boot partition not encrypted" warning when encrypting the # root partition but not /boot partition. # # If nothing is specified, the warning is shown. #showNotEncryptedBootMessage: true Kubuntu 25.04 should enable that setting and disable the warning for unencrypted boot partitions. ** Affects: calamares (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2107507 Title: Kubuntu 25.04 beta: Installer suggest encrypting the boot partition even though it is not supported To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/2107507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
