Public bug reported:
I was trying to install Ubuntu 25.04, downloaded on 2025-04-17, alongside
Windows 11.
In the installer I chose to install Ubuntu alongside Windows and to enable disk
encryption (LVM). When doing so the install always fails during the
partitioning phase with the following error:
File
"/snap/ubuntu-desktop-bootstrap/366/lib/python3.12/site-packages/curtin/util.py",
line 172, in _subp
raise ProcessExecutionError(stdout=out, stderr=err,
curtin.util.ProcessExecutionError: Unexpected error while running
command.
Command: ['cryptsetup', 'open', '--type', 'luks', '/dev/nvme0n1p6',
'dm_crypt-0', '--key-file', '/tmp/luks-key-0cx9rvao']
Exit code: 2
Reason: -
Stdout: ''
Stderr: ''

I've included the curtin-install.log. It's notable that attempting to
use ZFS with encryption leads to the same error.
