Public bug reported:
Kernel 6.11-24-generic on Ubuntu 24.04 freezes (partially) some time
after boot (I've seen anything from 5 minutes to 3.5 hours). This did
not happen on 6.11.0-21-generic, which I ran for a couple or weeks
without issue, nor any other earlier version.
This is on a Dell R7515 server with an AMD EPYC 7302P CPU; in case it's
relevant I use ZFS.
When it freezes, the console prints a warning:

The freeze affects some things but not others. My existing SSH
connection and tmux continue to work (mostly; tmux freezes
intermittently and *usually* recovers after a minute or so...though
eventually it seems to get stuck forever). New SSH connections do not
succeed; the TCP connection establishes and SSH starts to negotiate, but
it gets stuck during authentication. Some commands such as "ps aux"
freeze indefinitely, or freeze for a while. My serial console's getty
and the VGA console both stop responding entirely (no response to
pressing enter). The above warning only makes it to the serial console,
not VGA.
strace'ing "ps aux" shows that it freezes (seemingly forever) whilst
reading from procfs:
openat(AT_FDCWD, "/proc/4/stat", O_RDONLY) = 4
read(4,
PID 4 is some kernel thread but I'm not sure what.
Let me know if there's anything else I can usefully provide.
