Observations: * bug #2107724 may well be a duplicate of this as they do have steam package and lib deps installed * I took a Kubuntu 24.10 fully updated VM and installed as many KDE things from the main archive as I reasonably could. While upgrading this VM via do-release-upgrade -d took some time, it did finish ok and did not remove kubuntu-desktop or other parts of the plasma desktop.
A big observation: In a Kubuntu 24.10 fully updated and otherwise pristine install: * Upgrading via do-release-upgrade succeeded without removing kubuntu-desktop and plasma desktop packages * However, in some preliminary test is seems that doing the same upgrade after installing just libc6:i386 results in the broken upgrade. * OMG! * Original reporter will try to confirm -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2106202 Title: Kubuntu 24.10 do-release-upgrade and Valve's Steam install produces not booting desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/2106202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
