Hi Christopher,

I was reading the gentoo bug you linked, and its pretty good:

it does seem like we should revert this change for 5.15, and not go for that
patch that isn't accepted that supposedly fixes things.

Would you be able to try a test kernel based on 5.15.0-136-generic with

commit fc83c00ca63bc3a29778957170ccb96fabccf44c
Author: Qu Wenruo <w...@suse.com>
Date: Tue Sep 24 12:52:17 2024 +0930
Subject: btrfs: avoid unnecessary device path update for the same device
Link:
https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/jammy/commit/?id=fc83c00ca63bc3a29778957170ccb96fabccf44c

reverted?

Please note this package is NOT SUPPORTED by Canonical, and is for TESTING
PURPOSES ONLY. ONLY Install in a dedicated test environment.

Instructions to Install (On a jammy system):
1) sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mruffell/lp2107516-test
2) sudo apt update
3) sudo apt install linux-image-unsigned-5.15.0-136-generic
linux-modules-5.15.0-136-generic linux-modules-extra-5.15.0-136-generic
linux-headers-5.15.0-136-generic
4) sudo reboot
5) uname -rv
Look for 5.15.0-136.147+TEST2107516v20250422b1

If asked to abort removal of the current running kernel, say no.

The kernel is still building, probably a good idea to check that it built
correctly here before installing:

Thanks,
Matthew
