Public bug reported:
I have noticed that occasionally (say 10% of boot ups) the Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS
desktop gets very laggy (in the order of 15 seconds) in responding to desktop
right click context menu action request such as "Open in Terminal".
Sometimes I do several "Open in Terminal" clicks before I realize that its this
problem again, and then after about 15 seconds I end up with 3 or 4 Terminal
windows popping up at the same time on my desktop.
The desktop is instantly responsive to the mouse right click to show the
context menu, but its when you have released you click for the "Open in
Terminal" (or whatever you choose) that nothing then happens for the delay.
This delay also happens if you double click a file in the file manager to for
example open it in an editor.
After double clicking nothing happens.., then eventually the system wakes up
and does what you asked of it.
I wonder if this is a general problem in the OS which is also at the
root of a lot of the other "laggy" reports I read on this site.
Attached is a "journalctl -b0" log output. (the lag occurred during this
OS usage but it was about 15 mins ago so there may be nothing of
consequence in this particular log). Next time it happens I'll do a log
immediately afterwards.
** Affects: ubuntu

Status: New
