Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce:
1./ Installed ICC color profile in Ubuntu 24.04 under default Wayland session 2./ Configured Firefox to actually manage colors, because step above is not enough -Openned default Firefox Snap browser and go to about:config from URL bar -Specified path to my ICC color profile in key "gfx.color_management.display_profile" -Changed key "gfx.color_management.mode" to "1" Results: After FF restart, colors are still the same, oversaturaded, unmanaged under Wayland session. However, under X11 session it's working as expected what i cannot explain.. (Maybe in X11 is whole UI, entire desktop enviroment fully color managed? I don't know.) Expected results under Wayland: Color management should be workind in Wayland session the same way how it's working with standard Firefox debian package. It seems like it's related to snapd sanboxing, not giving FF access to /home/usename/.local/share/icc/ ICC profile copied to my /home/username/ and specified in FF settings - this way it works properly but this is only workaround. Other color managed snap applications may have the same problem, making them unusable for serious work where are accurate colors needed.. PS: I have also openned Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1961468 Maybe Ubuntu Security Center could work around this and ask user for permission to read ICC profile (or custom font config, btw. this is also not working). If could just specify custom location for FF to give reading access, problem solved. ** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2109848 Title: Firefox Snap - Color management not working under Wayland To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/2109848/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
