Public bug reported:

Hi All,

Last night I upgraded net-tools from 1.60+git20181103.0eebece-1ubuntu5.0
to 1.60+git20181103.0eebece-1ubuntu5.1 upon prompt.

My system is thus:

I'm asking this here as I believe that net-tools is upstream for Mint from
Ubuntu, and that is the proper channel.

The relevant contents of dpkg log are as follows:

I checked the content of etc/resolv.conf are as follows (the non-comment
part):

nameserver 127.0.0.53
options edns0 trust-ad
search lan

When I look at the file properties, it shows it was modified today
(which it couldn't have been as I accessed it today and it's read-only
so I couldn't have changed it). From what I had read this file might get
overwritten in an update, but

What I'm experiencing after the update is this (and this is a wired connection).

a) Web pages often give DNS errors when loading like this:

This site can’t be reached
Check if there is a typo in www.linuxmint.com.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

This is true in both Firefox and Chromium

b) Evolution mail often has problems downloading

c) Fetching things via the command line (say, apt-get, etc) can time out

d) When I try to log into websites that have been told to trust this
computer, I find that I often have to repeat 2-FA on them to log in (as
if I'm accessing it from an untrusted or previously uknown IP address).

e) I've tested my internet speed, and it's normal. Other devices that
are connected to the same internet service show no problems.

It took me over a day to report this, as forums and launchpad pages just
wouldn't load using this computer but would time out. Tonight it seems a
bit better, so I am able to log in. Pardon me for reporting this as a
bug, but I figured that was the best course if it were indeed so.

All the web browsers are directly connecting to the internet (no proxy).
I can give more information on request.

I tried to rollback to the previous version via Synaptic, but it
wouldn't fetch. I'm not sure that would help if the cause of my problem
were overwritten configuration files.
