Upstream closed the linked ticket as a duplicate of another somewhat
similar one, but I don't think that was the case (other case was much
more muddled).  That other bug was also closed a long time ago.

I haven't verified it because I'm not running Ubuntu any more, but there are 
much more recent (game, not benchmark) bugs about similar thing in upstream, 
see:

So the "fixes" to the problem, seem not to have really fixed the root
cause (of Mutter/Gtk doing things in wrong order compared to other
window managers, as explained in my original comment).

Note: you do not need download GfxBench to see the issue, it was visibly
just with the "glmark2" benchmark included into Ubuntu, see:
