apport information

** Description changed:

Newbie here. Posted this on mint cinnamon issues, was redirected here.
Can't say 100% for sure it is linux-firmware that is the culprit, but I
guess that forum member thought it was likely.

  linux mint 22.1
  package version 6.4.8

Earbuds are Oladance Ows2. When I first installed Mint 22.1 on my notebook,
bluetooth did not see the headphones at all, and I had to reinstall the
bluetooth packages to get it to work. Been fine since. Reinstalling bluetooth
this time, no joy. Other detected bluetooth non-audio devices seem ok, but I
have no other bluetooth earbuds to test.

After one of these updates below was installed, crackling started from
earbuds. Rolling back to 5/29/25 via timeshift snapshot fixed it; been
working fine every day since then, am avoiding updates for now.

Because it is a huge pita (which I didn't know when i set mint up) to
constantly roll back when you have ext4/lvm/luks set up, i can't easily
install one package at a time and retest each time. Would have tried
running apport before rolling back, but didn't know about it.

  potential culprits:

apport python 3 library for Apport crash report handling
  2.28.1-0ubuntu.36

  linux-firmware 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.12

  net-tools 2.10-0.1ubuntu4.4

  setuptools 68.1.2-2ubuntu1.2

  wireless-regdb 2024.10.07-0ubuntu2~24.04.1

  signal-desktop 7.56.0 (seems unlikely)

After rollback, noted am now on

  linux-firmware 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.11

  which is working a-ok.

Other t-shooting info if it is useful:

  - Earbuds fully charged or not, same problem
  - earbuds fine on multiple other devices.
  - Internal audio speaker in Mint on notebook is fine.
  - Same problem after cold and warm reboots.
  - Same problem on different networks at different physical locations.
  - Same problem regardless of media playback (browser or vlc).

  fyi & thx!
