@Norbert: Thank you for this. I have 25.04 Ubuntu MATE running in a VirtualBox VM. Search box was missing from Synaptic. I found this bug report via Google search. For the sake of others who may find this, When I tried to run "sudo update-apt-xapian-index", the system responded that process was already running. Following @DLCBurggraaff hint, rather than dig into this, I simply rebooted, then ran "sudo update-apt-xapian- index" again. This time it completed successfully, and upon starting Synaptic Package Manager, I had the Qyick filter in the top tool bar again.
Hopefully someone will incorporate these changes into the Ubuntu Synaptic repo. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2102220 Title: synaptic: quick search field missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptic/+bug/2102220/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
