I have in my ~/.pam_environment:
PAPERSIZE=a4
LANGUAGE DEFAULT= OVERRIDE=
This prevents a login via gdm, with the message:
Critical error - immediate abort
No error occurs:
- if i put a value in /etc/environment for LANGUAGE
- if the two lines in ~/.pam_environment are reversed
- if i use LANGUAGE DEFAULT="" OVERRIDE=""
