The fingerprint censor has returned to functioning, please feel free to cancel or continue to investigate this bug as you feel appropriate. Furthermore, the issue appears to be a broader USB issue, not related to the driver of the fingerprint sensor. I have not inserted or removed any USB devices since before the issue began, but the output of lsusb now shows three more devices: the fingerprint sensor, an internal wireless networking device, and an external flash drive.
