more info; -I've seen on the internet, that others are experiencing a similar problem; here; https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu-sn&channel=fs&q=Ubuntu+24.04.2+Login+issues&sei=Y-h3aLZUzL_Q8Q-3y_OZCA. and I have further info to add to this report.
-I've discovered that on my machine; every other time, I start from a shutdown state an Auto login does occur leaving me with the problem of having no password on the other occasions when auto-login does not occur; Then I cannot get to Desktop-Terminal and when I do get to terminal usually a password is required so I'm stopped there. - Last night on a auto-login occasion I was able to do the password reset routine described above in terminal and that resulted in "user david-oxland EQ not found"when it came to finishing up. -Today, I'm able to get through/settings,users but not unlock users because of missing/lost password as described above and rhat means that I cannot get to change password. -When auto-login does occur I'm not able to execute commands in terminal. -Software updater operates OK; but produces no updates. I cannot do any sudo actions as described in the above link. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2116994 Title: Root says; "user does not exist" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2116994/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
