Public bug reported:

I used the following command to completely remove Emacs from my system:

sudo apt purge emacs emacs-bin-common emacs-common emacs-el emacs-gtk
emacsen-common

After running this command, my computer crashed and booted only to a TTY
console (no graphical interface).

I later found out (with help from ChatGPT) that by purging these
packages, critical desktop components including the display manager
(gdm3) were also removed because of package dependencies.

I reinstalled the necessary packages (ubuntu-desktop and gdm3) to
restore the graphical environment and get back to work.

Please investigate this issue to prevent important system packages from
being removed unintentionally when removing Emacs.
