Hi, @Daniel - this makes all the sense. Please remember that the delivery is not only the kernel driver itself, but also a whole set of userspace libraries. This is a closed source component. 470 was abandoned a year ago and no one is monitoring it for CVE issues. There won't be a single fix for it ever again. We can not leave such an attack vector in the archives for the next 4 years (until 24.04 EOL). I know that there is a group of people still using these GPUs, but if NVVIDIA does not want to support it, then we can not either. Also, 390 was only patched for 6 months after EOL, not two years, and only for one release.
Regardless, I've patched 490 to work with 6.14. The driver is here: https://launchpad.net/~kuba-t-pawlak/+archive/ubuntu/470-test The drivers in the archives will be transitioned to 535. This means that my patched 470 will be the only installable 470 and the only working instance for 6.14 kernels. As it is a private PPA version, it's going to be unsupported. I will also try to get it into this group's PPA: https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa which is a community driver PPA, generally used by people who want latest drivers done before we release them officially. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2110338 Title: Nvidia 470/470-server fails to build on kernel 6.14 HWE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-470/+bug/2110338/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
