Public bug reported:
Problem:
The screen locker does not allow unlocking the session. Typing a password is
not possible. The screen shakes regularly. An error message is displayed:
"Unlocking failed could not get current available brokers: permission denied:
this action is only allowed for root users. Current user is 1000".
Notes:
I tried running the screen locker from the command line:
```
$ /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kscreenlocker_greet --testing
kf.kirigami: Failed to find a Kirigami platform plugin
Locked at 1753713326
file:///usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/components/SessionManagementScreen.qml:97:9:
QML Label: Binding loop detected for property "verticalAlignment"
```
The last line gets repeated indefinitely, but otherwise I get no other output.
If I try to run the process as root, it works (it allows me to type a password,
it doesn't shake, etc):
```
$ sudo /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kscreenlocker_greet --testing
[sudo] password for gguidi:
QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root'
kf.kirigami: Failed to find a Kirigami platform plugin
Locked at 1753715136
```
Steps:
1. Install Ubuntu 24.04 from scratch.
2. Install the kde-standard package and select sddm as the default display
manager.
3. Reboot.
4. Select the plasma environment and log in.
5. Press Meta+L to lock the screen.
6. Try to log back in.
