Dear Andreas Hasenack,

Sorry, but after I submitted the bug report, I removed and purged all the
packages relating to Samba/winbind. At first I kept getting dpgk errors
with apt. I then removed everything relating from those packages from
/var/lib/dpkg/info and reconfigured the packages. I then removed/purged
them all and reinstalled and reconfigured them. So I think any relevant
information you may need may be gone at this point and my personal issue
has been solved.
Importantly I did not get the same issues on my second workstation, which
has software parity with the first one. I think this issue comes from a
dpkg fix I had to do when going to kernel 6.14.0-24, where due to typical
nvidia idiocy the nvidia driver (575 proprietary, server) for this kernel
was apparently not tested properly, causing a lot of users including me on
both machines not to be able to update to 6.14.0-24. I fixed this
differently on the two workstations (on the workstation with the issue, I
moved /var/lib/dpkg/info --> $ sudo dpkg --configure -a, but then I
erroneously re-integrated the old /var/lob/dpkg/info into the new one. I
think this is where my issues were coming from). So I think unless you get
similar bug reports from other users, you can disregard my report. If there
is still information that I can give you (and I haven't destroyed) to help
with the problems of other users, let me know, but I think this is just a
knock-on issue from the NVIDIA-caused one.

Cheers,
Johannes
