Public bug reported:

On install for Xubuntu Questing and Ubuntu Studio 24.04.3 from .iso,
manual selection of partitions causes an installation freeze. Selecting
"Install alongside" also freezes if there is in sufficient space in area
not partitioned. Existing partition space to be re-used must be removed.
This blocks easy re-use within installer. Manual selection had worked
fine with 24.04.00 Xubuntu.

Hardware: BIOS, AMD Athlon-III-4 core, 12 G RAM, nVidia video, 1.5 T HDD
/dev/sda formatted GPT with /boot/EFI, bios-GRUB and /swap partitions,
total of 19 partitions.

Tried both burned DVD Live installer and Ventoy.

I had problems with 20.04 installing on BIOS/non-EFI so I added at that
time a /boot/EFI partition. Problems ensued with 22.04 installing with
MBR format hard drive partitioning, so I switched to GPT and added
/boot/EFI as well as bios-GRUB partitions and had no problem until 2025
releases of the installers. I also copy from an existing installation
the folder /boot/grub/i386-pc to enable GRUB installation.

I was successful in installing both Questing and 24.04.3 by removing
partitions and using "Install Alongside Existing Partitions" option, but
felt I should mention the problem at this time.
